International Base Camp /Green Room
TEKIO, ORGANI-k, GYAN Mexico, IRRI Mexico, FEA, RDCDA, along with other civil society organizations are working together to give birth to the "Mirror of Water" project, an alternative water forum which will be held in Mexico City, March 18th - 22nd 2006.
The purpose:
· To raise public awareness and facilitate networking
· A space of expresion, lobbing, interaction and celebration
· To offer practical tools and knowledge to improve water management
· Representatives from each region may present and discuss innovative practices.
What we offer:
· Broadcast event updates and live interviews via internet
· Workshops & roundtables with youth, activists, community stakeholders & experts
· Distribution of information and materials by youth & environmental organizations
· Youth reporters
· Art - Photography - Didactic Water exhibits and project displays
· Internet video-conferencing and chats
· PC computers offering Alternative Technology Library and web links
· DJ's and VJ's Ambient World Music
· 400 sq. meter hospitality and information tent
· Two meeting rooms for gatherings -one international and one local
· A vast collection of documentaries in English and Spanish
The areas in which we could use assistance are:
· Recruiting organizations and volunteers from various regions to participate in videoconferences, workshops, lead roundtable discussions and distribute info
· Getting the word out to visitors within the World Forum and through networks
· Volunteers at the site, as well as interpreters to facilitate talks and conversations
· Whoever cannot attend and wishes to send info or documentaries
