25 Years of AIDS Candlelight Memorial
The Candlelight Memorial is among the oldest and largest grassroots mobilization campaigns for HIV/AIDS awareness. Since 1983, the campaign has brought communities together to light candles in honour those who have been affected by the AIDS pandemic. The memorial takes place on the third Sunday in May and is led by Volunteer "Candlelight Coordinators" who Plan and host candlelight memorials for their communities.
This years marks 25 years of the candlelight Memorial, an event that has paralleled the e spread of the Epidemic. The theme for the 25th Anniversary is "Never Give Up, Never Forget," reflecting the crossroads in time this Memorial represents and reminded us that we must remember those lost, as well as never give up our collective fight against the disease. We hope this special year will also commemorate our solidarity as a coalition and the important role civil society plays in fighting the disease.
Guybernet will be open at 3pm for a Pre -film called "Life Support" and Group session
Candles will be lighted at 6:00pm and the Movie "Yesterday" will show with reflections after.
Please note other movies will be showing before for person who wants to be there before... if you can not make it u can have sessions with person in your community and show other movies also lit a candle at home
