This event is part of a another event, XVII International AIDS Conference
The next International AIDS Conference is fast approaching and the Mexico YouthForce is working hard on a variety of different activities. On April 24th at 10 am a YouthForce Live Chat will be held (in English- a Spanish one will follow at 11 am)!
This is your chance to meet various individuals involved in the YouthForce, hear more about the various different activities, and meet other youth interested in the conference.

Panelists include:
Joya Banerjee , 26, is the Co-Founder and Program Coordinator of the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS, (GYCA), a youth-led, UNFPA and UNAIDS-supported international network of 4000 young people addressing HIV/AIDS in 150 countries worldwide. Joya graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University cum laude in 2004 with a double major in Human Rights and Political Science. She wrote her senior thesis on the Feminization of HIV/AIDS in India. She is the co-chair of the YouthForce Advocacy Sub-Committee.
Katie Chau is the Executive Coordinator for the Youth Coalition and has focused the majority of her professional and academic careers on international public health issues, with a particular emphasis on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Katie graduated with an Honours Bachelor degree from the University of Toronto's International Development Studies program and has worked on numerous reproductive and sexual health projects in West Africa. Through her role as Executive Coordinator of the Youth Coalition, Katie has participated in various international conferences, including the 2006 IAC in Toronto, Women Deliver in London and the Global Safe Abortion conference in London. Katie believes strongly that the empowerment of youth and their increased participation in sexual and reproductive health rights initiatives and policy-making will dramatically improve the health and well being of populations worldwide.
Kirsten Jordan is the co-chair of the YouthForce Media and Communications Sub-Committee. She currently works at TakingITGlobal as their Strategic Partnerships Coordinator. There are many things that Kirsten is passionate about in life, but one of the issues that interests her most is creating a world where we all communicate and learn from one another.
Aleza Summit is the Project Officer at the Global Coalition for HIV/AIDS, where she began working in March 2007. Specifically, she supports GYCA’s network of Regional and National Focal Points, developing materials for local organizing on topics ranging from youth-friendly health services to World AIDS Day organizing. She is also responsible for coordinating follow up on the Youth-Adult Commitments Desk, GYCA’s new small grants program, the “Youth Awake” newsletter and other projects. She is a co-chair of the Mexico Youth Force Pre-Conference subcommittee and a member of the Youth Working Group for AIDS2008.
Ricardo Baruch tiene 23 años y es originario de Oaxaca. Es licenciado en ciencias políticas por la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Ha participado en organizaciones de la sociedad civil con trabajo en diversidad sexual, salud sexual y reproductiva así como VIH/SIDA. Además es parte de dos redes nacionales: DEMYSEX y la Coalición de Jóvenes por la Salud Sexual.
Fue el punto regional focal de la Coalición Global de Jóvenes contra el SIDA por dos años y también es miembro de una organización internacional de activistas en derechos sexuales y reproductivos llamada Youth Coalition. Gracias a esto, Ricardo participo en la delegacion oficial de Mexico en la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en el 2006 y tambien ha participado en consultas y reuniones en más de 15 países con agencias como ONUSIDA, UNFPA, OMS y UNESCO.
En estos momentos Ricardo es el coordinador del programa de jóvenes para la Conferencia Internacional de SIDA. Además colabora como representante de America Latina en el Fondo Mundial para la lucha contra el SIDA, la Tuberculosis y la Malaria.
Rodrigo Olin, 24 años de edad, Licenciado en Economía, es Director Ejecutivo de Ave de México, organización no gubernamental con 20 años de trabajo y experiencia en la prevención de VIH, derechos humanos, sexuales y reproductivos especialmente con comunidades vulnerables como la LGBT. Rodrigo terminó un curso sobre Sexualidad, VIH y Sida, avalado por el Programa Nacional de Sida Mexicano, CENSIDA. Rodrigo vive con VIH desde 2003. A través de Ave de México, él ha trabajado con diversas organizaciones e instituciones como el programa nacional de Sida, la oficina regional del UNFPA, Coalición de Jóvenes por la Salud Sexual, Redes Mexicana y Latinoamericanas de personas con VIH, Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir y otras mas.
Él tiene experiencia en la facilitación de talleres sonre VIH, Sida, sexualidad, reducción de daño, Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual, Incidencia política, diseño de proyectos, salud sexual y reproductiva, promoción del involucramiento de jóvenes en la prevención del VIH. Él ha coordinado proyectos de educación de pares y estrategias de alcance dirigidos a Jóvenes HSH, gays con VIH y estudiantes. En 2007 coordinó el Tour Conexión del proyecto Dance4Life en México el cual estará vigente hasta 2014. Actualmente es co-director del comité para la planeación de la preconferecnia de Jóvenes en AIDS 2008, es punto focal regional de América Latina por parte de la Coalición Global de Jóvenes sobre el VIH y Sida además de ser parte del Comité Técnico Asesor para el Punto Focal nacional de la REDLA+ como joven con VIH.
