NGT Overview

The telecommunications market has evolved rapidly in recent decades and it is currently undergoing a process of massive convergence. The rate of maturation of the telecoms sector has increased with multiple new services offering transfer of voice, data and internet packages over a converged network. The delivery of this Next Generation Telecommunication (NGT) will bring faster, more efficient and more cost-effective data transfer using multiple new services such as WiMax and VoIP. This new technology platform will provide end-users with greater choice, control and flexibility as they can access voice and data from any device.

Innovation

In November 2007 the Telecommunication Review highlighted the challenges that some of the incumbent telecommunication companies are facing in competing with many new dynamic entrants emerging as competitors. Standards are being defined that will see fixed and mobile services coming together on a common network platform. As such, standards such as ETSI TISPAN exist to assist fixed network operators to plan and implement the migration of their networks to IP operation. Key Next Generation Network (NGN) drivers include the optimisation and financial effectiveness of existing network operations justified on cost grounds, collapsing legacy platforms, reducing maintenance and upgrade costs and creating more operational flexibility.

In order to remain competitive and to deliver and meet the twin challenges of end user and shareholder benefit, it is clear that growth in innovation capacity is vital.

Why attend?

Changes in developments in the fast-evolving telecommunications sector are an issue that constantly interest both those inside the industry and given its importance to the overall economy of the EU, also to those outside this sector. This joint Epsilon/Analysys conference with be crucial in understanding the difficulties facing the evolution to converged networks and it will provide delegates with the essential knowledge required to understand the developments in NGT which are currently being discussed in the industry. This unique event will explore alternative approaches such as advertising revenues and RAN sharing, along with OSS/BSS Legacy Transformation. With the imminent changes in business environment there is a continued demand to learn from examples of telecommunication leaders, in the search to find new revenue streams and reduce operating costs. Case studies illustrating current examples of product, service, platform and business model transformation occurring within core business operations will therefore be presented. This event will analyse the advantages of the evolution and deployment of NGNs and offer unique strategies for new business opportunities. The conference will address the concerns surrounding the effects on access to networks and considers the multiple technologies at the retail and wholesale levels. It is imminent that the future could involve further extensions of such telecommunication network applications and new social driven services. The provision of new services will be considered along with how new services can be created more efficiently. Naturally this event will provide excellent networking opportunities.

Who should attend?

This event will be essential for those wishing to better understand the continuing impact of Next Generation Networks upon investment within the telecommunication industry, in order to enhance competitive advantage and IP-based sales opportunities. It is of immediate interest to manufacturers, service providers, fixed network operators, mobile operators, regulation specialists and regulatory affairs professionals.
