Support HIV/AIDS programs in Africa

Join us for “HIV/AIDS Stories from the Field with Stephanie Nolen, Globe and Mail Correspondent on Africa”.

November 13th, 2007 – 7 pm

For the past 30 yearsthe Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) Canada has been involved in the creation of healthy and sustainable communities in Canada and abroad. The Listen to the Drumming program, developed by ICA Canada, focuses on building healthy communities in Africa by assisting communities with their responses to HIV/AIDS.

This year Listen to the Drumming has partnered with Stephanie Nolen to raise money for these essential programs in Africa. Stephanie has won the National Newspaper Award for International Reporting three times for her coverage of Africa, and has just written a best selling book called 28: Stories of AIDS in Africa. Dr. Philip Berger from the Tsepong Clinic of Hope and Anurita Bains (former advisor to Stephen Lewis) will also be participating in this event.

There will be a pre-VIP reception at 5:30 pm that will include a chance to meet with Stephanie, Anurita and Dr. Berger, and light dinner and cocktails.

Listen to the Drumming programs are a vital component to the global response to HIV/AIDS in Africa and are focused on the key areas of: HIV/AIDS education, women's legal and functional literacy, agriculture and nutrition, and micro credit programs

This year Listen to the Drumming will be supporting our sister agencies in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and expanding support to the its support to five additional countries including: Uganda, Benin, Togo, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire.

Listen to the Drumming invites you to come on November 13th, 2007 to share your resources, energy and spirit in honour of these important programs.
