If you are a youth (either NGO or governmental) who will be attending the WSSD and will be in New York City on July 23, there will be a meeting at the Global Youth Action Network office (located in New York).
The address and phone number are:
211 East 43rd Street, Suite 905, New York, NY 10017, U.S.A.
Tel: 1-212-661-6111
Meeting date: Tuesday, July 23
Meeting time: 6:00 pm
This preparatory meeting will enable us to discuss how youth delegates can ensure their active participation at the WSSD. It is also an opportunity for youth to network and exchange ideas for initiatives at the Summit. We will brainstorm ways that youth can help governments progress to a positive outcome at the WSSD.
The World Summit on Sustainable Development will bring together tens of thousands of participants, including heads of State and Government, national delegates and leaders from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), businesses and other major groups to focus the world's attention and direct action toward meeting difficult challenges, including improving people's lives and conserving our natural resources in a world that is growing in population, with ever-increasing demands for food, water, shelter, sanitation, energy, health services and economic security.
I hope to see many of you at this meeting. Please forward this message on to any appropriate lists or any youth that you know of who are attending WSSD.
Thanks,
Steve Schwartz (Steering Committee member of SustainUS) |
